Sustainability

At ProCook, we are committed to making our business more sustainable because we care about the future. We are on an exciting journey and have already made numerous changes to minimise our environmental impact

Our Planet

Minimising our environmental impact and our journey to net zero.

Since ProCook began in 1996, doing the right thing has been a core principle. In 2022 we became a certified B Corp, demonstrating our continued commitment to this principle.

We are challenging ourselves to make better choices and are on a journey to improve our practices, minimising our environmental impact through the way we operate and produce our products and packaging.

We have set an ambitious target to reach net zero by 2040 and have established a roadmap identifying the eight immediate priority areas to focus on.

Our Impact

Our products are built to last, with lifetime guarantees of up to 25 years, minimising the need to buy twice. We are aware of the impact associated with the goods we sell but work hard to improve our ethical and environmental responsibilities across our entire value chain.

  • Successfully introduced more premium ranges suggesting consumers are willing to invest in quality.
  • All office paper is FSC certified, unnecessary printing is discouraged as are single use plastics, colleagues are provided with reusable ProCook products to promote reuse.
  • Monthly Green Team meetings are held to boost sustainability initiatives and knowledge sharing across the business.
  • Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions mapped with baseline established and good progress and good progress.
Our Waste

Waste prevention is important to us, and we are always looking for ways to reduce waste and increase recycling across the business, and throughout our operations. We follow the European Waste Hierarchy and adhere to the preferred route of prevention, reduce, reuse, recycle and finally disposal.

  • Offer refurbishments of electrical items.
  • When buying a new electrical item from ProCook, we will recycle the one you are replacing for free, using our WEEE Recycling Scheme.
  • Achieved 'Zero to Landfill' status at our UK SSC and warehouse.
  • Work with waste management providers to choose the most sustainable option for end of use waste and have found new initiatives to recycle typically hard to recycle waste streams (e.g., flexible plastics).
Our Materials
  • Increased the use of natural materials, such as sustainable bamboo and acacia, in our product ranges.
  • We have stopped sending physical ProCook catalogues ours are now digital, any leaflets we produce are fully recyclable and made from FSC certified paper.
  • We use certified materials that are responsibly sourced and comply with British and European product safety, chemical and environmental legislations.

Our Journey to Net Zero

We have made significant progress to reduce our energy consumption and carbon emissions and have set an ambitious target of net zero by 2040.

We've developed a comprehensive carbon footprint analysis and roadmap with our carbon consultants that encompasses Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, guiding our ambition to achieve net-zero.

Making sustainable changes to reduce carbon emissions across our value chain is crucial.

  • 100% renewable energy across all UK sites.
  • An all-electric vehicle fleet.
  • SSC offers 26 electric car charging points for colleagues and guests.
  • 100% LED lighting in our SSC, 98% LED lighting in stores.
  • We aim to never use air freight.
  • We mitigate our Scope 1 and 2 emissions with Ecologi.
Carbon Mitigation Projects

We are working with Ecologi to mitigate our Scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions. We've prevented 430 tCO2e from entering the atmosphere through supporting verified carbon avoidance projects with Ecologi*.

The project we are currently supporting offers fuel-efficient cookstoves to communities in Uganda, giving people access to cleaner, safer and more robust cooking alternatives.
