Bread knives
With its recognisable serrated edge, bread knives are primarily used to slice through bread like loaves with hard crusts and rolls that are soft and easily misshapen. The serrated edge allows you to cut through tougher exteriors without applying too much pressure that can crush delicate items. As well as bread rolls and loaves, bread knives can also be used to cut through cakes, pastries, pies and even fruits and vegetables like tomatoes and citrus fruits. This is because the serrated blade prevents excessive squashing.
